How to Start Modeling
As a longtime model myself I know what it took to get started in modeling. In my ebook I share my 10 years experience on the do's and dont's of how to get into the modeling biz.
You will find out:
Here are a couple samples:
Photographer: If you decide to get some pictures use a professional photographer. I would find one that specializes in modeling type shoots. In my experience I prefer outdoor shots using natural light instead of studio lighting. I believe it is much more natural and gives better photos. I suggest using a photographer that gives you the negatives. These are pictures of you and you should own the rights to them.
If you are picked up, your agency may have a photographer they want you to use. But a good agency should not try to sell you a “photo package”. So beware of any agency or photographer that tries to get you to buy their “photo package”
- Get Training: I am not a big advocate of modeling training. I have seen a lot of young people go to “modeling” schools and get nothing but a big bill to pay. So my suggestion is know why you might want to attend a school. If it is just to get experience in front of the camera or just to get comfortable with the whole environment that may be fine. But I would suggest you not look at it like your big break. Modeling schools are expensive so be informed before spending the money for school.
You will get the basic knowledge for you to get started or help your kids get started.
